Hi all,
First-time poster here. Finally decided to register after lurking around for the last six months or so...Thanks for all the great advice! I'm a relic hunter, scrapper, and PM addict from N. Georgia and got into CRHing about a year ago. I was about to give up on halves after $5K gave up 2 40%ers! (Brinks). Last week, while on a penny run I stopped by a bank I don't have an account at and asked for halves. The nice man said he had six rolls (CWR) and added "I have to warn you that these aren't the new halves" (????) So I took them home and the first one I glimpsed was a '66, then a '67. When the smoke cleared 95 of the 120 coins were 40% silver! It is still out there! Thanks again for all the great tips and I look forward to getting to know you folks.

Way to keep the flame alive! This is a cool way to come into the forum with a bang.
Interesting on the warning on these 'old halves' I havent really ever came across new rolls of solid 2007's or 2009's. Makes me wonder they have and have gave them out. Keep this bank on your watch list! |

Looks like the Silver Santa came early this year.
I got an entire box of 1997-P New half dollars at one of my banks. The interesting thing is I live deep in D country.. I never get P mint coins.  |
