My wife told me she had seen this story on pennies this morning. You must be logged in to see this link. No word on if they are copper or zinc :) Goes to show, you never know what coins can have on them or where they have been.I always wear gloves and have only had one batch of cents that were so nasty I refused to sort and dumped in the free counters my banks have. So...whats the worst batch other members have gotten SKUNKED with?
I haven't been this confused since I watched America's Got Talent send through the Shirly Temple looking girl with Zero singing ability while they dissed the wonderful singer with the Cleft Pallet.
What was the problem? The pennies were burned or damaged. So what?
Thanks for the update. After reading the story I am left with only more questions. quote "Ulrich said the coins were from packets of wrapped pennies, not from loose change accepted from a customer.." Wonder where they get there coin service from? Anyone sort nearby?
So what, I see pennies that look like that all the time.
For those that live up north I hear that if a penny is on the street or sidewalk during the winter that the slag/salt used to melt the snow eats them up like this also.
Or if you have some drop in your garage or floor board of your car they can get pretty nasty that way too.
Coppers hold up soooo much better than the zincs.

money is nasty. there is no telling where they were and what is on them, so they are gonna waste a lot of money trying to figure it out. grease lightning or toilet bowl cleaner can cause skin irritation . maybe someone was using a container to store their change that had a chemical residue in it that caused this.
I think the whole investigation is stupid
