I've gotten two full boxes of copper pennies at a particular bank in the Western New York area. I've reached my goal and will no longer be buying boxes. If anyone wants the branch location, feel free to PM me. I've had great luck with wheats at this particular bank also.
The last two boxes I got had nothing newer than 1977. All the Canadian pennies were pre-1977 also with around a dozen King pennies. Is someone dumping a copper hoard in western NY? These were all customer rolls.

| Why would you quit if you get boxes like that? Sell a little of your hoard and keep moving! |

WOW! That's pretty good. Looks like Grandpa cleaned out the attic and brought the coins down to the bank.
I wonder if this bank has a motherload of silver halves too? |

I have enough for now. I've hand sorted close to 500,000 pennies in around 3 years. Copper fatigue I guess.
By the way, I've never gotten a full box of coppers before. I've gotten two from this bank in two seperate trips, a couple of weeks apart. |

Yeah, I would see what else came in with those pennies. Not just halves.

Why woud you quit now? I haven't ever gotten a full copper box.
It might be worth picking up a few rolls of dimes, quarters, and halves. Worst case scenario would be you lose some gas money. |

Finding complete boxes of copper sounds like more the reason to sell off some and add back, than to let them go to waste. You said you handsorted 500,000+ cents and you are basically burnt out, these require no sorting....

| Still have to sort out the Canadian Copper. The only way to be sure they are all copper is hand sorting and looking at each date as I am a hand sorter. Over 100 canadians came from this box alone and only TWO wheats. The last box had only ONE wheat (1949). Go figure. I live near Canada and pennies from this country are all over the place here. I get close to 100 Canadian pennies from each and every single box I've ever sorted. I asked about half dollars and they said they didn't have many but get them from time to time. Once I bought $100 of half dollars I saw on the tellars table. She was glad to get rid of them. when I got home, I found that they were all searched. They had a razor cut around 1/4" wide with the paper removed and replaced in the rolls. Tape made it look like it never happened. Very SLICK! After opening a few rolls, I just dumped them at the next bank. |
