Are there any uses for scrap brass, other than decorative casts?
I found tons of brass plates, candlesticks, bowls, etc. for really cheap.
Should I pick some more up?

I will bring a scale next time. And lots of money. Candlesticks were selling at 59 cents, but I didnt want to strip them of their steel "innards" before I bought them.
Fairly large trays and bowls were selling form $0.59-1.00.
I guess it a go then.
Are there any uses for this like melting it down into shot or tools? |

most are brass. you can usually take nice cases to gun shops or reloaders and get more than scrap price though. |

| I thought brass was more like $2 a pound, or is that the price that dealers buy/sell in bulk? (as opposed to people bringing in small amounts). |

Some of the stuff is laquered, would this prevent it from melting properly or the scrap dealers not want it?

| If your picking up the brass cheap enough it fetches a very nice pay out at your local scrap yards. I know brass is always one of our better paying metals at the scrap yard I work at. Also we do take brass bullet casings, but if you have decent quality casings. You can definitely fetch a higher payout from a local re-loader then what we will pay you for them. I'm sure this is pretty universal to most yards because I've never seen one that payed much for spent bullet casings. |
