There is a solution so simple and so radical that it is "impossible" (and of course you're reading it here): shut down insurance and all government entitlements, and return to the "golden era" of the 1950s when everyone paid cash for healthcare. I know--going to a market/cash system is "impossible." But the irony is that's where we'll be in a few years, regardless of what anyone thinks or wants: "healthcare" in its present incarnation will bankrupt the nation just as surely as the sun rises.
I think the hospitals, doctors, health care providers, insurance companies, and government agencies have been feeding on the health care industry so long that they will never get off the gravy train until the whole system collapses. I say take the profit incentives out of taking care of the sick and put the incentives on the prevention of illness.

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life. – Theodore Roosevelt

| I know that I got some information at a software conference on some of the things currently proposed, and it's starting off with a 21% reduction in payments to medical providers. It is also planned to control the paychecks of everyone working for a medical institution. |
