If we include the normally counted number of unemployed as well as those who have recently given up looking for work and those who have taken a part-time low paying job because they can't find full-time work, the implication is that the unemployment rate for July would be at 16.3 percent.
Administrations, both Republikhan and Demokrat, seem to like that low unemployment number, no matter what the statistical voodoo is involved in the manipulation. High unemployment is not good for the approval level rating, so the statistic is politically modified. I would like for once to have our government have the courage to give me the truthful number that includes those who have given up looking for work. Is the government inflation number any better? |
