"My conclusion is that there may be big and determined institutional type silver buying underway. Perhaps some big investors have discovered what many retail investors have previously known, namely, the great investment silver represents. If my guess is accurate, the entry of new large investors could bring big change to the silver market."

Sounds exciting but I'm always skeptical about articles written by those who are in the silver peddling business.

Ted Butler is a lot closer to peddling the truth than Ag.
I think you'll see his predictions to be not very far from the mark.

But the flip side of the coin (pun intended) is that if the CPTC audit shows substantially less silver for delivery than what is called for in outstanding options contracts and the price of silver soars, how is that going to benefit those of us who see silver (and for some people, gold) as our best protection against fiat currency inflation if the price of silver soars independently of dollar hyperinflation? This will make it more expensive for us to acquire, so do we really WANT an audit to occur yet? I'm not saying an honest and thorough audit shouldn't be conducted--it absolutely should. I'm just saying that we should be careful what we wish for.

not sure what you mean by audit.

Butler's biggest claim is that JPM and HSBC are short thousands of silver contracts and their short position is so big it amounts to manipulation of the COMEX market for silver. if you read his essays, he makes a persuasive argument.

The result of his agitating is that it is now possible, maybe even likely, that the Commidities Futures Trading Commission (analogous to the SEC) will require COMEX to drastically reduce position limits for silver. This will cause a huge short rally if they actually do this. The CFTC has been holding public hearings on this so this is not exactly a secret.

If the price of silver goes up, its good for everyone who already owns silver. It should not diminish silver's value as a hedge against fiat currency unless the market price overshoots its fair value.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X

Butler is not a perma-bull - he called the most recent pullback right on time. I feel some serious movement coming for gold's little brother.

And he that hath lyberte ought to kepe hit wel / For nothyng is better than lyberte / For lyberte shold not be wel sold for alle the gold and syluer of all the world.

Don't think of it as going broke, Neckro. Think of it as liquidating your quantitative easing for real money.
