Just pulled a 2003 2-cent Euro (France design) from a penny roll. Coin was either equivalent or else very close in diameter to our US 1-cent but was somewhat thicker. Sort of surprised those could get into rolls.

Wondering what other countries you guys have found???

According to You must be logged in to see this link. it appears that 15 different country/zone designs circulate.

Austria Belgium Finland France Germany

Greece Ireland Italy Luxembourg Monaco

Netherlands Portugal San Marino Spain Vatican

Wonder if we can complete the entire checklist???

Regards,

Jeff

Basically every country in the EU produces their own coinage/paper.

Trolling is an art.

I've found dozens of countries coinage in Canadian rolls. Coolest to me was a 1942 Newfoundland penny. Less then 1 million made. How it managed to get to the West Coast into a roll 60 years after Newfoundland joined Canada I do not know.

I've got a container just for eurocents. Found 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cent. Mostly German design for some reason.

I have only found a few Euro cents (5 or 6). Most of them in nickels, not pennies. My area seems to get stuff from the Caribbean more than anywhere else.

The neatest foreign coin I've found was a 1952 Netherlands Antilles cent. I had a roll the other day with 6 BU cents from the Bahamas -- someone just got back from vacation, sounds like.

I usually find about 2 euro coins per box of pennies. I have started throwing them right back to the banks.

Why do that to a coin worth 3 cents!?!? Throw them at me instead!

You should keep those puppies and then sell them to collectors when you have enough.

So far I have found:
1 Bahamas One Cent
1 Bermuda One Cent
1 Two Cent Euro -not sure what country since I didnt record it
2 India 25 Paise coins
1 Norway 50 Ore

I'm not a big time sorter by any means, but enjoy finding the occasional foreign coin. It's not as exciting as finding wild Indians, but still pretty cool.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.
