Stopped by a couple of them here in Madison, and both were asking $1.95/each, with silver at $13.73 per ounce. This price was based on what they could sell for to some dealer in Chicago they said. Last week, silver basis was at $13.81 on Friday, and one shop offered them at $1.75/each.
What are your local dealers doing on these?

They are definitely selling for less than their melt value. I think $1.75 each is a good price to buy them. Perhaps the dealers get these from stackers that want to trade up. I wonder what they pay for these. However, I really don't stop by local dealers much.
The current melt for 40%ers is $2.03. You can get 'em for less than that on EBAY if you buy in quantity. |

One of them buys from the public at $1.25/each, but I am not sure about the other dealer. I would imagine it's something close to that. If they would have matched the $1.75/each price, I probably would have bought the $200 face bag they had. |

Wow he is decent on 90%, but high on 40%. I wonder what he is paying for those that makes him sell at $2.15 each. |

Just wondered about prices here, I decided to just call since I have not tried to purchase any 1/2's. There were 2 coin dealers listed. One said his 90% sells today for $6.50 and 40% today at $2.45. He pays $1.10 for the 40%. The other one said he sells 40% for $2.35 (2.13 if you buy a bag), he buys at $1.15 today. Sells 90% for $7.25 ($5.00 if you buy a bag). So, not so great a deal here in West Texas compared to others. |

The dealers' spread is pretty wide. Of course, they gotta make money to stay in business.
I think one of the best places to get a feeling for the market of 40% is at Bullion Direct: Bid $370 ($1.85 each) Ask $379.95 ($1.90 each) for a $100 bag of them. So, if you could buy 40%ers at around $1.80 each you're doing good. |

| A prominent dealer in Cinci pays about $1.65 last time I was there. |

The dealer I was at Sunday was selling them for $2.25 each. Yet they were selling the 90% for 10X. They wanted 95¢ for a war nick.
