they have vending machines inside where you can buy rolls of BU etc coins minted recently? Someone told me this.

I don't know about Denver, but in D.C. they have a Mint shop with vending machines that sell the Presidential dollars and the newest quarter. They come out loose, but you can put ten bucks in and get BU coins.

Democracy is being allowed to vote for the candidate you dislike least.

If those coins are dispensed from a machine, there well could be scratches from the machinery. If you did get some you should check for any such marks. Around here most banks have as many of those baby sized dollars as you want and all Uncirculated since no one used them.
