Thanks, Dylan

| I get bags of pennies from a local group called "United Bank" and from a US Bank. I have always had good service from any US Bank I've ever gone to. |

It's not so much the institution as it is whether or not that branch has a coin counter or not. You might call around and ask a branch if they have an automatic coin counter / sorter / machine. Those will be the branches with bags.
Some parts of the country have these in almost every bank, in other parts almost none. |

^This is true. I'm in North Carolina, and the only places around here with counters are the State Employees' Credit Union branches. Fortunately, I'm a member, so I have no problem returning zincs.
I've asked them before if I could buy a bag out of the machine once it's full, but they won't sell 'em. |

There are some NC state Employees' Credit Union branches right up the road from me (right across the state line).
I called and like Ant said...they won't even sell the bags to members. |

I'm also in the same boat at Slick and Ant. Those bags once sealed become something holy. The tellers at every bank I've been to have all refused the notion of me buying their coin sorting bags. It's really frustrating when you fill their penny bags and see a huge bag of halves, that you know you didn't dump.
I think it would take a very good relationship with the tellers or manager to have them change their mind about the coin sorting bags. I also believe it is very much bank specific, so one BoA or CU for example may allow you to buy the bags and the next won't.

89gt-stanger you need to get to know the bank’s “vault teller.” She or He is the one that orders coin that is delivered by a third party armored car carrier to the bank and normally on a weekly basis. Some banks can if they choose to order loose coins. A bag of pennies is normally $50. Likewise, some bank will agree to take back loose coins. A lot has to do with your "relationship" with the bank personnel. In my humble opinion there are two main ways to establish a "good relationship." First is to have a sizeable deposit with the bank and second is by your willingness to give “gifts” i.e. namely bags of candy, especially chocolate. Also it does not hurt to be totally up front and honest about your hobby and sincere and saying “thank you” for the hassle of them getting you coins. I know it is their job but "tellers" in general have to put up with a lot of crap from the public and it is refreshing to them when someone treats them decent.

| They haven't come right out and said it, but I believe that I save the bank money when I buy bags from them. I think that they pay a per bag fee to sheip them to Loomis. skip the teller and ask the mgr. I haven't had a bank tell me no (grand totalof 4 banks). |

Some just contract to have the armored service pick up whatever they have bagged, too. My main bank's like that. |

| The best place I have found is Credit Unions. There is one 20 miles away that always has many bags of pennies so I can get what I want. Don't have an account there. |

Huh, not much to add here. Just remember it never hurts to ask....
Deal |
Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |
