I found another 1909 Lincoln; this one was really worn and had a small hole at the top of it (maybe for a necklace??). It is pretty worn on the back so I could not tell if it is a VDB or not. |

While updating the pre-40 Lincolns thread, I ran across a few people who had reported 1909 finds there. Some had also reported here, but others hadn't. I updated to the best of my understanding.
Congratulations to BEAUANDEROS, who goes through "quite a few" cents; he found the first "international division" 1909 coin... a French Indo-China ten cent coin. Example here: You must be logged in to see this link. |

Here are pics of my find a while ago. I don't know what those white specks are, they aren't on the coin. It is hard to see the VBD in the pic but in reality it is clear as day.

Thanks! I found it and just threw it in with the rest of the wheats. Didn't realize until later what I had actually found haha. |

I found a 1909-P lincoln going through my fiance's change last month. It would grade it F-VF. The oldest coin I ever found in circulation or roll hunting. |

PennyPauper, that is a NICE coin. Great stalks. Sticky? Run some warm water over it and gently rub with your fingers. GENTLY... |

Alright... I added a few, and coordinated this with the pre-40 thread. That means... THREAD DATA IS ACCURATE TO THIS POINT. |

I pulled a 1909 Lincoln out of a $25 box today. I posted about it on another thread. But after finding this thread, I realized that I hadn't really checked for the VDB mark. Well guess what? It is a VDB! It's in pretty good shape. The date is readily readable. I don't know much about coin grades, but can anyone give me an approximate value for one of these? I am assuming that a 1909 VDB is rarer than a regular 1909, right? Thanks for any replies. |

Thanks Roadrunner. I'm just shy of the $1000 face value level in terms of my hoard. |

I registered here a little while back, and I'm just excited after tonight I had to start posting. I found a 1909 VDB that would probably grade VF BN. Out of the same box, I swear I have another one, but it's so worn and flat that you can barely make it out, might just be my wishful thinking but the third number in the date ain't there anymore. One is worth more than the roll it came in, the other one can make a nice conversation piece. Until tonight, I forgot how fun roll searching can be. Definitely a good way to relieve stress. Got to finish that Dansco album that's been missing dates since 2002 |
