Hey guys-

I just went through and made my first ever purchase at APMEX. I got a few silver bars. They had a "July 4th Blowout Sale", and of course silver is low, so I had to jump on it. I just wanted to say thanks for all of the good information, enjoyable time and business that this forum has provided for the past however-many months I've been here. Any advice on APMEX or other bullion purchasers? Anyone else buying this weekend?

Thanks a lot,
David

Going to be purchsing a few kilo bars if we hit a spot of $12.00. But I have been looking for awhile. Wish their shipping was cheaper on smaller purchases, what ya gonna do? I'm sure they dont want to waste the labor packing 1000 $20 orders every day...

As long as im still trying to sell my 19oz here on the forum...there is no bottom to silver

I listed them at $16 when silver kept going up up up. The next day big loss. So I changed my price to $15.50. Next day big loss! Changed my price to what it is now. Silver still dropping...

I just sold a bunch of 40% halves- that usually signals a steep climb so you may be in luck. HH Mark

$12.00 is as possible as $18.00. I think it may hit $12.00 before it hits $18.00 though...

Congrats. If you are investing long term, the current price movements don't matter.

Weak hand versus strong hand mentality.

Of course, even strong hands consolidates & trades from time to time.

I still have to move a lot of 40%. Prolly should have done it when the price was higher (hindsight 20/20). I would really like to turn it into GAEs + 1GAE, but unless the G/S ratio drops, wont happen. For now, I just gotta wait until the price heads back up. Still, I'm not worried or concerned at all.

+1. The goal with PMs should be long-term protection, not profit. Just be patient and keep your eye on the dollar's end-game and don't get discouraged at PM prices at any given moment. We'll be OK in the end when everyone else is burning their worthless paper.

Congrats! APMEX is a first-class outfit. You might be able to buy from others a bit cheaper (with shipping charges), but in general, I find them very competitive. I've bought from them many, many times and never have had a problem yet!

Apmex is a good company. But it's always best to shop around, it can save you hundreds. or buy you even more.

Yeah, I went ahead and pulled the trigger also. After watching the Ag spot dip under 13.50, it seemed to be a good time to order another 20 ounces. I really like APMEX a lot.

Well, I also just made my first purchase from APMEX. After months on this forum and listening to Peter Schiff and Gerald Celente I have come to believe that things are going to get worse before they get better. So, I took a loan out against my 401k to buy some silver, about $4500 worth. It not much but, I suppose that it's more than most people have. Was this a smart move on my part? I don't know only time will tell. But, I had to do something. If inflation goes up, and I don't lose my job than I should win on two fronts. The price of silver should go up and I would be paying back the loan with devalued $$$.

I did a little research on BD and it looks like they are having a few problems over there. If they say they have it in stock and they have your money in hand then it should not take more than a few days to ship your order. Many people don't mind waiting a little longer for a better price but, it sounds like their operation is a little shaky and I just would not trust them.

As the old cliche goes, only time will tell if you made a smart move or not. If silver takes off and the stock market stays in the crapper, you will probably be glad you did this. Financial "wizards" such as Bob Brinker and Dave Ramsey will strongly advise against taking out a loan on your 401k to make such investments. They will say by doing this you are minimizing the "magic of compounding."

I don't think it is a bad move at all, especially since silver is on the decline at the moment.

May I ask where you found information that BD is having problems? They were slow to ship when the spot price plummeted last year, but almost everybody was. Much of that had to do with various mints pushing back orders. BD had plenty of notices up about it, and the president of the company offered an update each week on the status of certain products. In the rare cases where they could not provide the products that were ordered, they offered upgrades to more expensive products, or other substitutions plus cash to make up the difference. I have used the company on many occasions, for both catalog orders and Nucleo exchange orders, and have never had a problem.
