Not that we want to start a religious debate on this site, but I think that our spiritual priorities will become more and more obvious WTSHTF. So I'll throw out this question: What would you do if you lost every material thing in this world, through a totally unexpected natural disaster? Would you be focused on getting more stuff as quickly as possible? (This George Carlin clip comes to mind: You must be logged in to see this link.) Would you become despondent? Would you focus more on growing spiritually through the loss? What would you do?

Me personally, if I lost everything I had in this world, I hope I'd have the faith of someone like Job, from the Old Testament:

I think that given the interesting times we're living in, doing a spiritual and psychological inventory like this now could be very important down the road.

I don't know what I would do because I'm not to attached to my material "things"(or so I like to think).
I didn't lose everything but about four years ago I lost almost everything. I'm glad I did too, it's embarassing how I used to be. A good wake up call from God, I feel.
Hey but I noticed your link to You must be logged in to see this link. I just heard a sermon on the rapture, are you interested in me giving you the link? You can tell me what you think if you like.

Again?! Same thing I did the last few times. Thank God I am still alive, and start over. This time though I am not alone. I have the most amazing wife in the world and 2 beutifull boy/girl twin children. I think the story of Job has alot of truth in it.

This makes me remember that discussion about getting rid of some your stuff (the stuff that you don't need), because some of it maybe a hinderance to being prepared.

True, I have been getting rid of stuff for some time, and what I can sell has been turned into silver and gold. If I lost everything, I would be free to do a lot more than I am now, we are slaves to our stuff.

Lots of people wish for a fresh start. That could be their chance. I could care less. I'd just slowly regain what was lost.

Like I said I have lost it all a few times. I have lead an interesting life so far.

You are never more free than when you just have the money in your pocket and clothes on your back.

You are never more rich than when surrounded by friends and loved ones.

You need contrast in your life to fully remind you to appreciate what you have.

This I believe.
