My wife and I am are getting a new refrig. The old one is about 10 years old and works. What would I get if I took it apart and scrapped it?

You won't get much but at least you will be recycling it and keeping most of it out of the land fill. Most scrap yards take appliances they call them white goods. $.03 a pound. You could remove the motor $.10 a ponnd and the compressor $.05 a pound and the insulated wire $.80 a pound. The rest plastic and all turn in as white goods.

Thanks for the info. The municipality would charge me $20 to get rid of it.

What about selling it? Craigslist maybe? Or donate it that way you wouldn't have to pay to get rid of it and they come to you.

Dont you have to remove the refrigerant first?

Take this job and shove it. I don't want to work here no more...

You say it still works, try selling it. You would probably get more money selling it than scrapping it.
