I want to buy some silver maybe between $1000 and $5000 but I'm not sure which way to go. I like the idea of the lower premiums, just under a dollar, on the Buffalo silver rounds, more silver for the buck. Eagles have about 2x the premium but many people say that they would be more acceptable wtshtf than the generic rounds. And than there's junk, should be as acceptable as an Eagle with a lower premium but, only 90% silver. I've been back and forth on this, just can't make up my mind.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.--Benjamin Franklin

I don't think you will go wrong if you diversify. Buy rounds, Eagles and junk silver. Also, purchase some 10 oz bars.

I would, personally, go with the 90% junk silver. More people know what it is and comes in various forms, not just strickly one ounce at a time.

Definitely diversify. As far as hedging against a SHTF scenario, I'm not sure that Eagles will have any more value than another one ounce bar or round marked as 0.999 silver. I would definitely get some 90% silver in all denominations too.

Personally, if I was going to spend say $3000 on acquiring silver, I would get a nice mix something like this:

$500 on 1 oz bars/rounds
$500 on 10 oz bars
$500 on 90% dimes
$500 on 90% quarters
$500 on 90% halves
$250 on Eagles
$125 on Maples
$125 on Philharmonics

Mix it up and have a little fun with it instead of sweating the details. :)

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I say rounds, bars, and junk. I dislike the high premiums on eagles.

I agree to mix it up. I would spread it out too. maybe 5 days. No higher then 10. stick with name brand but not vanity. Oh- MUCH of the decision is on what has a good price. The flavor of the day rotates- and you cant plan on getting a deal on ABC- when XYZ actually has the better price that day. Get some eagles. Maybe a roll. Eagles are the easiest to sell when the time comes. I also would pick up a few 1/10th eagles or maples.

I try to buy what is the lowest premiums at that time and that does change between 90% and rounds and bars.

Oh no!!!!!!!!!! ^imitates queer eye for straight guy^

hunny we need to spice up your look, and T-bills and matching formally toxic assets, could change your whole life.

loose the cold factory look.

People view silver as neanderthal- so you really want to soften that.

...oh and your teeth all wrong. Gold and silver dental work is passe- replace it with procelin.

Take that tacky jewelry and sent it to good will. The robotic tin foil zombie look is so in right now.

..and what is up with this bric-a-brack. No one collects filthy metals. Fabric and parchments are in- mix match.

^faggy voice^ and that tie clashes with your complexion. (goes to upscale store picks a a bow tie that duo functions as a noose)

^hugs you and sticks finger up ,,,,nevermind. lol
