Hey everyone,

Just thought I would share with you one of my coins that just came back from the grading company. Its a 1922 No D! Its a TRUE no D!!!

For those that dont know there are 7 types of 1922 D and No D lincoln cents. The Die par #2 is the most valuable and collectable one. That is what this coin is!

All 1922 weak D or No D coins fall into one of 7 categories:
1. Die Pair #1 Weak D (Weak Reverse)
2. Die Pair #1 No D (Weak Reverse)
3. Die Pair #2 No D (Strong Reverse) also called 1922 Plain
4. Die Pair #3 Weak D (Weak Reverse)
5. Die Pair #3 No D (Weak Reverse)
6. Die Pair #4 Weak D (Weak Reverse)
7. Die Pair #4 No D (Weak Reverse)

PCGS, NGC and some other grading services do not distinguish between the seven varieties above. PCGS and
NGC authenticate Die Pairs #1, #3 and #4 as either “1922 weak D” or “1922 No D weak reverse”. Die Pair #2 is
authenticated as “1922 No D strong reverse”.

More info on this coin/variety can be found at You must be logged in to see this link.

I tried my best with the pictures, but the case just want to reflect the light. These pictures dont do justice to the coin.

No, but I wish I did

I bought it raw from a private deal. I was hoping it came back as a die pair 2, and it came back as that so I thought Id share.

Well played, sir. I'll gladly give you 20x face for it I'll even pay for the cost of the encapsulation Nice score, for real. I've found a weak D while sorting wheats, but never a no D. It's my dream to find that, a 09S and an 09SVDB

Nice man, very nice!

All I have to say is shame on all the people that circulated the penny before you got it. BUT if they didn't, you would never had gotten it.

If none were circulated they would all be MS and not worth as much as they are now b/c of the circulation factor

I think he bought it for 5 cents as part of a bulk deal so he should be more than happy to sell it for $1 or so plus the grading fees. Sounds fair to me!

Just kidding everyone...I have a pretty good idea of what he paid for it and it wasnt cheap.

Mine is in the mail from ANACS. Unfortunately, I screwed up and sent it to them....they only label the die pair 2 as "no D" and I didn't realize that until I sent it off. This is a true no D, die pair 1 coin. Looks like I'll have to cross it over to PCGS to get the "no D" label....arrrgggggg...live and learn:

Graded by wear and not by die state. The die pairs 1 and 4 can be really poor. On these you have to look closely at the rims to help determine the wear level.
