Does anyone know of a place that will refine old silver plated flatware or 40% coins or stuff into silver bars/ingots? If such a place exists will they do it in relatively small quantities? and how much does it cost? and does anyone know any reputable places?

Our very own Market Harmony. Sounds right up his alley!!

Market Harmony can pour bars from silver scrap, but to actually refine it (turn it from sterling or 40% or whatever else into .999 fine) is a much more laborious process, and it has to go to a third party refiner.

makes more sense to sell the scrap and buy the pure silver.

There was a refinery that was payuing 96% of spot or something regardless of the purity of gold/silver. forget what it was.

Edit: it's midwest refineries, and they're only paying 90% of spot now. No doubt it's because of the excess supply that hit the market.
