Got a great call from my new credit union today. They knew I liked pennies, so they went ahead and ordered me some. Ten whole dollars worth! Apparently they don't quite have a handle on the size of my addiction yet. Well, the gal calls me and tells me that when their currier delived the pennies he told her that they were the new special Lincolns! Whoohoo.. I was finally going to get some Log Cabins.. after looking for months. The problem.. The CU is only open M-F and I have to be at the day job during those hours to support my bad coin habit, and maybe buy some groceries occasionally. No, I couldn't have my buddy pick them up for me.. they can only sell coins to members. So I talk my buddy into going down and opening an account so he would be a member. Once a member he could buy the pennies for me. So they bring them out.. and guess what.. they were just generic circ pennies.. bummer.

He didn't have the heart to tell the gal that I have a garage full of those kind of pennies.

Well, at least my buddy got his $50 bonus for opening a new account. It was nice of him to try for me.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Oh my they ordered $10 bucks worth of pennies for you? How did you convince them to do that?

Any chance they refused to give your buddy the same ones they meant for you?

the sad part is that you'd mess with a bank that only orders 10 bucks worth lol.

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. If I were you I'd call the bank and ask if they still had your '09 log cabins. Then I'd send them to moboman.

I went in to the same CU and asked for pennies. They told me that they had the $10 of Log Cabins. I asked if I could swap them for $10 I had in rolls that I just picked up from another bank. They shrugged their shoulders, looked at each other like I was crazy and made the swap- sorry!

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities.

lol @ jon. Just send me half of them and all will be forgiven.

jadedragon.. I didn't even convince them.. they just did it on their own. $10 is probably a big order for this institution. The sad thing is they had to pay a courier to bring them out.

Yeah moboman.. I'll take my pennies 20 rolls at a time.. that's how you build up a big hoard. Besides, I'm desperate.

The good news.. another very nice member here read about my plight and offered to send me some rolls out of his vast hoard. So now the tears have stopped. Good thing too.. I was afraid they would stain my copper pennies and I would have to sell them all as "Ugly Abes" below melt to misteroman. Looking forward to my next coin club meeting where I can give all the other members free log cabin pennies for their collections.
