What is junk land?

junk land is basically unwanted land. it can be undeveloped, overdeveloped. an eyesore that no one wants. business doesn't last there. it's basically a place you can park your rv if you had to.

I've often imagined that land like Caridad is describing would be a great place to plant fruit trees and other perennials, especially if the land will likely remain unused for a while by other people. Something to consider.

Usually land like that, in my neck of the woods, is highly contaminated from industrial processes or illegal dumping. No one wants the land, because it would cost an arm and a leg to clean up all the chemicals that leached into the ground. I recommend soil testing any land like that before setting up shop or planting anything.

Around here people use secluded spots of unused land to grow herbs, special illegal herbs. Mostly export oriented operations I think. I guess you could plant fruit trees in some areas. But you need to care for the trees so why not plant them on your own land, or a family or friend's property where you can actually exercise control over them?

I read a book on land rights in Malaysia that extensively discussed rights to fruit trees on various types of land. Interesting stuff...

the video life without people talks about how after chernobyl sunflowers were growing all around in certain parts of town. they found that the sunflowers were soaking up the contaminants.
