I was dumping today at another branch of my dump bank today. While she was in the back running the coins I see a merc staring at me from her tray. When she gets back I ask if I can buy it.......and in a snotty tone "nope". If she was freaking saving it for someone why didn't she have it OUT OF SIGHT!!!!!

Don't add negative energy to the Universe unless absolutely necessary! It's all part of the Game, smile, be as polite as you can be and just move along. If you have an account at that institution, you could choose to speak to the manager about the mater, it's up to you. Instant Karma WILL get you (and her)! It takes persistence, but eventually you will be at the right place at the right time and Tellers will rush to you and offer Ag at face with the most pleasant looks when they hear you're looking for older coins for your "collection". Remember the Golden Rule!

| I was nice and polite at the time. Even commented "oh so you saving it for someone then?" Politely said thank you for the help and left. But it just kept eating at me the rest of the day. I tried telling myself its part of it but man.....wild silver less than 3 feet away. Yes I do have an account at this bank too. I just needed to vent a little. The big scores are still out there I know. |

| Thing that bugged me the most about it is I asked my wife if she would go in to try to get it for me and she wouldn't. |

I've been there and know (well, maybe not exactly) how you feel. It Flipping Sux! This Forum is a good place to vent (and occasionally brag).
PS - You should see some of the eye rolls and hear the sighs I get when I tell (ask?) my Wife, "I'm just going to pop into this bank for a minute." |

It happens, and it sucks. Nothing you can really do about it though other than following my advice in this thread.

This is all part of a silver pathogen. In all honesty, we don't have dibs on anything just because we ask. I've struggled with this frustration many times. The tellers are as entitled to keep them for themselves as we are to ask for them. I've bumped into tellers that sell their stuff on ebay, what can I say. I have to wish them luck as much as I wish all of us here the very best. Just my opinion. |

Ok, this makes me mad. If they want it, PULL IT OFF THE D*MN TRAY!@!
If company policy prevents them from purchasing the coins for themselves, "saving it for someone" is subversion of the rules, and they should be reprimanded, not given chocolates. I don't see it as a part of a game, I am a paying customer, if I want games I will stay home and play with my kids.
Now the teller that saved me the red seal 1953 five dollar bill, that deserves chocolate! |

Yeah it sucks, but making a big deal over it is just wasting your time & effort. One time a teller had $9 of halves, I asked for them all. Branch manager happened to notice, and pulled out $4 worth of silvers, and the teller sold me the rest.
Would have been between $16-40 worth of silver, more than enough to cover gas money for the entire CRH trip. Oh well, win some lose some.

Actually I'm not too sure if they are allowed to do it. My guess is that for most (if not all) banks, they disallow employees from buying from their own or each others trays. Saving for someone else is circumventing the rules. But bringing it up just alienates you from that bank branch. No-win situation. |
