Apparently nickels don't move much- only 50/338 (14.8%) of my nickels are from the Philly mint (I live in the Rockies). Philly must send them all straight to the east coast, as D's were far more common when I lived in the midwest as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the chief attractions of the life of the wilderness is its rugged and stalwart democracy; there every man stands for what he actually is, and can show himself to be.
I just went through a box of nickels and here's the mintmark breakdown:
1515 P (78.3%) 408 D (21.1%) 12 S (0.6%) ------- 1935 coins (I didn't write down the other 65 coins from the 2000-count box.)
I'm in the northern Virginia. I also found 3 war nickels, a 1975 Canadian nickel, and a 20 Rappen coin from Switzerland. Now it's time to tackle the box of pennies.
RUNNING TOTAL -------------------------- 987 zincs (1982-2006) 77.7% 283 coppers (1959-1982) 22.3% 7 wheats (1935-1952) 1 Canadian (1977) 1 dime (2004)
