I just found my first 1943 penny!! It was pretty exciting. I went through 2 boxes and found 39 wheat's with the oldest being 1912. This was a big step up from the normal 13 wheat's I've been getting per box. Hopefully this keeps up, because maybe then I'll find one of those last lurking Indians
Congrats! I found my first IH before I found a 43.
The silver [is] mine, and the gold [is] mine, saith the LORD of hosts. Hag 2:8 [/b] He created it. He controls it. He gave it to us for His use. Why did we turn from sound scriptural currency that PROTECTS us?
Congratulations on the find. Keep looking, you never know what you'll find....

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams
To tell the truth I get a bit more smiley over the 43 cause they stand out more and should be "plucked" from circulation, where as an IH can be mistaken for a common copper rather easily.

I have yet to find a 1943, but have found one IHC. Kurr is right...a steel cent should stick out like a sore thumb so are more likely to be pulled from circulation. IHC's can blend in with other copper coins pretty easily.
My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.
That is if you dont count the time I bought about 20 bucks worth of paper rolls from my regular bank and they were all wheats including about 15-- 43's.
