| Although the article states that it was the first war game of its kind, I seriously doubt that. Its hard to believe that the Pentagon never explored the national security consequences of economic events, especially considering what the 1973 oil embargo did to our economy. Reagan likely realized that linkage in the eighties when he built up our military, basically daring the Russians to do the same. When they did, their economy basically stroked out. In fact I believe a vast majority of wars have been about economics in one way or another. |

We've had a navy missile cruiser light-footing it around A LIFE BOAT, IN THE MIDDLE OF AN OCEAN, AND OUT OF GAS, ARMED ONLY BY FOUR MEN WITH AK RIFLES FOR GOING ON TWO FULL DAYS NOW!!!!

For clarity, Thousands have been killed fighting in the name of God (ie: Crusades), but that is infinitesimal compared to the number killed (tens of millions) trying to suppress the name of God (Hitler, Stalin, and the Socialists) |

Humphrey to prepare to sell part of the US Government's Sterling Bond holdings. The Government held these bonds in part to aid post war Britain’s economy (during the Cold War), and as partial payment of Britain’s enormous Second World War debt to the US Government, American corporations, and individuals. It was also part of the overall effort of Marshall Plan aid, in the rebuilding of the Western European economies.
Britain’s then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Harold Macmillan, advised his Prime Minister Anthony Eden that the United States was fully prepared to carry out this threat.
