Just wanted to get some feelers out there to see what people are paying for 5000 count wheat bags. I have a friend who wants me to help him move them.

He said they are going to be mainly 40's and 50's, and coins will be ones pulled from circulation over the years. So the coin conditions will vary from well worn to almost uncirculated and everything in between.

I have seen wheat bags go on here for 4 cents each shipped, so is $200 shipped a fair price? I'm trying to decide whether to put them on Ebay (and get crushed by their fees) or sell them here. He is relying on me to get him the most possible money for them, so I have to decide the best route to go. Any feedback would be appreciated. I would much rather to sell them to someone here of course.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

$200 shipped (4c/e) is easy to get. There are a few people, like me, that will buy them all day for $200/5000. (I will buy these also, fyi, so PM me if you want to sell at 4c/e delivered.)

On eBay you can get $210 to $250 including shipping, sometimes more. With fees you do make a little over $200 so it is more money in general but you have to take some time and then there is a chance of getting e-burned.

You can probably find someone at $210 shipped around here or another board with a little time, actually.

Bottom line: At $200/5k you can get an instant sale. Above that but under $230 you have a chance at a sale around here and other boards. To get over $230 you would need to use eBay, and then you may get above that depending luck.

Personally, if they're mostly 40s and 50s, I think $0.02-$0.03 is a bit more likely. For teens, 20s, and 30s, plus 40s and 50s, I would buy at $250 (if I didn't spend my monthly coin budget on slabbed "investment" pieces). Anything higher would require some convincing. ;-)

Best,

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Thanks guys...the local dealers buy wheat cents, even common 40's and 50's for 3 cents each so he knows he can get a quick sale that way for $150 per 5000. He figured about $200 net would be about what to expect but I appreciate your feedback. I will run this by him and see if he is cool with $200 delivered or if he wants to take the chances with EBay.

I'd buy at .04 each as well.
