I was skeptical at first when I saw the headline "Gold is not a hedge against inflation..." until I read the rest of the page. Now it makes perfect sense, and given the Chinese fire drill masquerading as government in our nation's capital, I'd say this guy hit the nail on the head:

Gold does well during both inflation and deflation. So, many have stated that gold is a hedge against economic turmoil.

Saying that gold is a hedge against government is probably more correct than saying that it is a hedge against inflation, but the government is not always the cause of economic turmoil. It just seems that way since they probably cause the problems 95% of the time.

Natural disasters, for example, would be another cause.

But still kudos to him for the article. I like the ring of his message...
