Well its been a great week for me in the penny rolls. I got my first full roll of US wheat pennies. A different batch of rolls this time. The dates run from 1923-58D. I was looking to see if there were any key dates to look for at CoinFacts. From what I can see a 1944D might be the best of the bunch. The were a lot of blanks with the S mint have been filled in but nothing too valuable.

I am also a metal detector & it was pooring rain all day. But that is were I first heard of coin roll hunting. It seemed kind of silly at the time but I can say that I am definately ADDICTED!Had I known I would be so successful at it I would of started much sooner!! Like 30 years ago!

Happy Hunting All!

Nice. Yes. Very nice.

Another addict is born, next thing you know you'll be looking for a Ryedale....

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

No Ryedale but I do have a furnace on its way. Its supposed to go up to about 2500 F in about half an hour. I will be needing a few crucibles soon.

Nice. Yes. Very nice.

You plan on smelting your own bars? What furnace did you purchase? I always thought that would be lots of fun! Welcome!

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!

The furnace is a Thermodyne 1500 Muffle Furnace. $200 US plus shipping on Ebay. Its in transit coming up from Georgia. Its inside is pretty small & might be a problem. Runs on 120 volts. I've been told that copper is supposed to boil & bubble so ideally you need a bottem pourer. I will have try melting some pennies & see how things go. It will be good for silver or gold ingots. Too small for aluminium though. I will have to get my daughter to decorate the molds for me. She is very artistic & multi-talented.

Its a new toy & it was affordable- I hope - who knows what customs will do -$$$ ??. I will have to clean out the garage to make some room to play. I'll have to make sure that the house insurance is paid & up to date before I try melting anything!

Nice. Yes. Very nice.
