AMPEX sell's bags of .999 fine silver shot (BB size balls of silver) from 10oz to over 800oz per bag for only $0.99 to only $0.59 per oz over spot. Do you all think this would be a good way to stock pile silver? The also have silver buffalo's for $2 over spot.

I have mixed feelings about the silver shot myself. Im sure they are silver, but someone buying it from -me- might not know 'for sure' that its silver in the future. For that reason, Im staying away myself for now.
I have seen people selling them for $18/ oz on Ebay. They sell, but seem to be a slow sell. |

I think the silver shot would make more sense if you had an industrial use for it. |

Silver shot is good if you're planning to pour bars, but otherwise I think it would be difficult to sell in quantity. It's always good to have an exit strategy. I think APMEX will buy the silver shot back if the bags are sealed.
APMEX has a minimum order of $50.
If you only want a few, I'm currently selling the buffaloes for $16.25 each. A little more than APMEX, but no minimum and my shipping for a few rounds is under $4 where APMEX starts at $10. Also no extra fee for using PayPal or credit card. |

I'll buy all the verified silver shot that you have. But, of course, I have an 'industrial' use for it
If you buy shot, don't take it out of the sealed packaging if you plan to resell it. All refiners will sell it in sealed, tamper-evident bags. JM and OPM are this way. And APMEX, though not a refiner, also will do this. I believe they get their silver from Penoles, if memory serves me right. Shot can be trusted from APMEX... be wary of retailers on ebay that just have it in a plastic zip lock bag. |

| If your looking for cheap silver, go with 90%, 40% US coins. Recogonizable, and for the most part usually the cheapest overall with excellent resell value... |

I second that. And if you do buy some, keep the APMEX label on it and keep the bag sealed. Otherwise good luck try convincing someone that it's pure silver when you need to cash in. |

It has become undesirable to #1 offer sterling silver and 90% silver products and #2 buy scrap from the public.
I recently sold, via eBay, about 29 troy ounces of sterling bars for a discount on spot price. I lost about $120 on that sale. There doesn't seem to be much demand for it. But, I remember when spot was above $17 and people would pay premiums for any type of silver, so perhaps demand is affected by spot price plus perceived availability of silver in any form. I'm switching my operations to only deal in pure gold, silver, and copper.
The patriot act laws require me to obtain personal data from sellers of scrap, and this process turns off quite a few folks. One realcent member stopped emailling me when I sent him all the paperwork.
I will make commissioned bars of gold and silver. If someone wants to change their scrap into bar form, then they can send it to me and I'll melt it down into whatever they want. You must be logged in to see this link. I do not require for weighting or non-silver metal to be removed. I can do that on my own. It may be in the best interest of the provider of the silver to send it to me in a clean form so they know, in advance, what they can expect in return. |

Hi there-
JMO, but I wouldn't buy the silver shot- if you want to get silver close to spot, go for the Mexican Silver onzas and cien pesos they have for sale. I could see the silver shot being a nightmare to anyone tryin to sell.

Making colloidal silver for medicinal purposes is a very possible use, especially if the economy tanks bad enough that people can't go to the doctor and/or antibiotics become prohibitively expensive. I'm not qualified to dispense medical advice, I'm just passing along what others have posted about it. Here's one thread:

| Recently I noticed AMPEX had .999 bars "of their choice" that they are selling close to spot. I would go with those rather than silver shot. |
