I read somewhere that in the time of nebachanezzer (sp?) that 1 oz of gold bought appr 300 loaves of bread, at current gold prices and decent bread at 3.00 a loaf, 1600 years later, it works out to roughly the same today. Any scip they used then, is worthless, just as our dollars will be in 1600 years.

Amazing... Technology has made the human "work input" much, much less for acquiring both grain and gold, but the technology gains in both have been fairly equally. So the end result has been a fairly steady ratio between the two over the years.
