I picked up two boxes of pennies today. This caused more of a ruckus than I wanted it to. The tellers at this bank can't seem to locate a couple boxes without getting at least two other tellers and a manager involved. The other annoyance was that the teller asked me why I wanted all of those pennies. I gave the standard line about being a collector. Then she asked if I dumped all the unwanted coins back in the coinstar. I thought for a second and said yeah I might bring some of them back. They didn't seem all that concerned so it was no big deal, but it was my first time being questioned.

This branch gives me a consistent 30% copper take, so its well worth the trouble. Today I began to understand why as I saw a lady empty a giant 3 to 4 gallon jug full of coins in the coinstar. I have no idea how she could lift it. I also saw an elderly couple bringing in a bunch of rolled coins and I noticed that there were a 4 or 5 rolls of what could have been halves. It was busy and I'd already caused enough trouble so I didn't ask for them. I might go back there tomorrow to see if I can get them. We'll see.

chocolates people....chocolates
and go on a slow day. chat them up a little. most of the girls will say that their dad or grandfather collects coins. all the head tellers know me by name as well as I know them by name. and they know my voice on the phone. and they call me when the delivery is in.

Ditto.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Like slickeast, I am always very polite and joke around with the tellers. Often, they apologize to me because it takes a few minutes to round up all my coins. I get questioned 30% of the time about my activity and am asked 80% of the time if am a customer of the bank.

I would not worry too much about what the tellers think. Coin hoarders know exactly what they want and don't tie up the teller's time for too long. Many seniors (who don't trust ATMs) can take anywhere from 1/2 hour to 1 hour on the simplest transactions, since they like to socialize with the tellers.

I turned in $1023.50 in halfs, $225 Brinks zinc boxes, $50 hand rolled zincs, and the coin machine got $230ish in zincs. I arrived 9:30 and departed 11:45.

I knew it was going to be a long day, so I brought in 2 bags of Reeses mini peanut butter cups for the ladies. They were so helpful throughout the whole day. The machine kept jamming and Ruby cleaned it with alcohol and then kneeled on the floor while one of the bags filled because there was a malfunctioning part to the arm that dropped the pennies into bag #2. They had to empty the machine twice while I was there. I can't say enough of how nice everything went. The hot coffee put it over the top.

When I cashed out and asked if they had any rolls behind the counter, they just laughed. Got $10 with 55% copper ratio and a bunch of wheats.

Chocolate gifts work wonders!

Ruby mentioned a huge increase in coin machine traffic over the past 3 months. 3 other customers were there to turn in change.

MH, your machine is slow. I can run $2000 in halves and $300 zincs at my bank in 30-45 min max. They will stand at the machine after the first bag of halves gets full since the 2nd bag fills up quick.

Tonya is the girl who handles the machine, she always brings one of the guys out. She is super hot too.

She usually asks what I have so she will know if she needs to be prepared to switch bags.

I usually let my 5 year old daughter give out the chocolates. And she usually gets lolipops in return.

My bank has the same machines at different branches. This particular bank is the closest to my house, so out of convenience I went there. The last time I was there, I noticed that it was the slowest of any branch. I don't think they maintain the machine well enough. Ruby said that she'll be calling in the maintenance guy to clean it and fix bag #2. The machine stopped so many times that Ruby just hung out with me for the 2 hours If it was operating properly, I'd say the time would be cut in half, if not more.
