Can the U.S. Taxman break Swiss Bank Secrecy?

Horgad's Summary: it is all a matter of jurisdiction. As long as the Swiss and their customers keep to the Swiss jurisdiction, they are still safe, but if they "mistakenly" step into US jurisdiction they are going to get stomped.

It's important to remember the history of Switzerland and it's position during the past World Wars. It's remained largely unbiased towards and unaligned with either side. If the Swiss were to give in to Western demands for privacy revelation and whatnot, it would be a complete 180 degree spin, which I see as very unlikely. Swiss banks are safe.

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!

US govt has already done this about 5-10 yrs ago. ditto for caymans, bermuda, bahamas. the only places that likely would work would be taiwan, hong kong or panama, and those places have a whole set of different drawbacks.

if you are interested in this stuff, check out the Sovereign Society. Its not a society but a newsletter. they have a free daily email. Good information but most of it doesn't work for people of modest resources. Also, I often found their advice a few details short of actionable. Still, they are probably the best resource and worth the cost of a subscription if you plan to bank overseas. some of the info like second passports i found interesting - lots of EU contries have programs that allow for dual citizenship - if you meet the criteria it can be very easy.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X
