Well, it took me 40+ years, but I finally found my first silver in pocket change.

I was at the car wash and only had a $20. I put it in and got $15 back in qtrs and I traded $5 to a guy who couldn't get the machine to take his $5 bill. When I got home, I looked at the qtrs. There was a canadian in there (because it couldn't be a silver). I looked at it anyway and low and behold it was a 1964 I hope there wasn't any other silvers in the $5 that I traded.

Welcome to the silver club! Fairly exclusive, but the club is growing.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

Misteroman, I have never found silver in my pocket change before. Not even in the 70's.

Copper Catcher, I do sort halves and find silver there, but I don't consider it pocket change if I go out looking for it.

Computer Jones, you're right about the luck. I once bought a soda and won a free one with the bottle cap. Then later that day I got a burger at McDonalds and one a free one. I then decided to buy a lottery ticket (the first and only one). I won my $1 back.

saw a 1921 peace dollar in the drawer at the local grocery, asked the (young)girl what it said on it..she picked it up and read it out loud, "one dollar", I handed her a worthless green piece of paper and traded her to save her the extra hassle of counting out her drawer later...aren't I a nice guy! not quite a true "pocket change" story, but illustrates that you may find what you look for.

wow,I wouldve asked her who brought it in and would give her your number and said if she ever seen that person again to give it to them and if they contacted you,you would take care of her.

I always ask the tellers for halves, as you all do and have often heard "someone has already been here to get them", but recently heard that the post office just bought the halves to reload the stamp selling vending machine...just a thought...halves given back in change?

Hi there-

Ummmm.......a 1921 Peace? You can buy many 1922 dollars with that "one dollar" : D

wags

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win.
