Over the weekend at the coinshow, I saw a roll of 1/20oz gold eagles. I didnt buy any because I didnt think they were real. I looked on ebay and the mint's site and there is nothing about a 1/20oz. Anyone know if they are real or not?
They looked the same size as a 1/20oz panda and it had the same design as the normal eagle, just said 1/20oz and I dont remember if it had a face value or not.

Thanks guys.

They weren't made by the US Mint, as far as I know.

These were in an opaque plastic tube. (like the mint silver eagle tubes) There was no lid with them so I couldnt tell if it was a mint tube.

They were cute coins, and I would have bought the entire roll. But the idea of it not being real is scary. I guess that's why I normally stick with certain dealers.

Thanks for your input guys.

Gold dollars are just under 1/20th of an ounce.. but I doubt it was a roll of those. I would have stayed clear also.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Did you ask the dealer any questions?

i believe the 1/10th ounce gold is the size of a dime. a 1/20th ounce would be half that size, obviously, which would be impracticably small.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X

Never heard of a 1/20 GAE. Like Lemon Thrower said, they would seem impractically small. How many in a tube? How much was he/she asking each, or per roll? Should have asked more questions. I probably would have bought a couple just to see for myself.

Plain and simple.

They did not make a 1/20 American Gold Eagle. Probably a bullion coin or a plated coin

1/20 is not an uncommon size. There are 1/20 Maples, Kangaroos, Lunars, etc. They are small, but not microscope-small. A lot of the reduction is done with thickness.

I bet they were the new "Golden Dollars" with the three sisters on them.

Awake, O kings of the earth! Come ye, O, come ye, with your gold and your silver, to the help of my people, to the house of the daughters of Zion, to the help of the people of the God of this Land even Jesus Christ.

They never made 1/20 ounce gold eagles. Im sure they were just .999 rounds with eagles on them or something along that lines. Next time defintly ask more questions and look at them. BUT yes if in doubt DONT BUY

No I didnt ask any questions. He had other customers and I didnt want to waste his time asking about them, since I thought that the mint didnt make 1/20oz coins.
If he has them next month, maybe I'll ask about them. This same dealer had a proof kilo panda in a display box with a design that I had never seen before either a few months back. I wasnt sure whether it was real or not. It was out of my price range to take a gamble on it. I try to take risks, just not with that much money.
