I'm finally getting around to buying canned tobacco and rolling papers to use as possible barter items down the road, and the brand of tobacco I just bought this morning, Bugler, is a brand I've seen in a lot of places, but not being a smoker, I don't know how good it is (for smokers, anyway). I didn't want to shell out $35 for a can of Prince Albert, so $13 for a 6-ounce can of Bugler was the deal of the day. Any opinions, advice, etc. on what brands I should look for and/or avoid?

I am not a smoker but take a look at the following for reviews:

Also if I was to start hoarding tobacco, I would do a search for "native american tax free tobacco". I think you should be able to find a pound for around $17. A pound is equivalent to about 1 carton of machine rolled cigs... |

Nickeless, I am your man for this. I have smoked roll your owns since I was 13 and I am 36 now. That is a bit of experience. I prefer Bugler above all others for taste, length of burn (value for money) and price.. Tops is comparable but the quality is iffy sometimes, and it just has a something about it that puts me off. Gambler is another brand of loose cig tabocco that is in the cheap range. I hate it. VERY dry and the way that it is cut causes it to burn up fast and tast stale quickly. The native American "tax free" tobacco I have found was undone quickly by the premium on the "organic native" variety. Ended up being exspensive.
Now if you are looking to maximise your potential for profit on bartering, when you go to kentucky next time look into tobacco auctions. Or drive around in the country untill you see a tabacco patch in a farmers field/garden and ask him about buying some after it is dried, put up in bulk and ready to sell. Then you can offer Chew, Snuff, Ciggarettes, Cigars, and what ever else. Don't buy retail.
And it doesn't matter if you like it or not, you don't smoke it, or they like it or not. People smoking in that bad a situation are addicts and will pay to play. I really should order some tabacco seed. |
