You can get pretty cheap scales that weigh to 0.1g. I got one from radio shack for $20 but it developed a problem where it displays an error message unless you set it on its side. I'd be interested to find one that's more durable though.
A nice one for $17. I bought one last week and it seems to work. I recommend Energizer E2Lithium batteries so you won't have to replace them for a long time. I mean months rather than days. They are twice the price of alkaline and well worth it. If you don't use the scale at all the batteries will stay good for fifteen years!

Any recommendations on slightly larger-capacity scales such as for weighing silver scrap, etc.? I've got several dozen sterling spoons I've bought at a number of auctions and wanted to have a scale big enough to accommodate several pounds, in case I decide to sell some of my silver scrap as a single big lot, in which case I'd want the total weight to show on the scale.
Works well, and looks sweet as well! I use mine for my snakes. Works up to 11 pounds. Paid $40-ish. Worth it.

Bought them as babies in May of '04. I have two. They each eat once a week all year except during the winter. Generally refuse food for 12 weeks or so. That leaves 40 "feeding" weeks. Rats are $6 each. That's $240 per year per snake just in food. Over $2000 in food since I bought them. Damn. One is pushing 1800 grams, the other is 1500. That's like 60¢ a gram or so.
Anybody want to buy a snake or two....hehe
