You know, same here. I admit I didn't vote for him, but he is my President and I do respect the office. That being said, we are in for a bumpy ride. He looked lost and overwhelmed. It didn't look like he was pausing to collect his thoughts, but to remember his lines. The first 100 days could reveal a lot of things....

"Not everything we do is going to work out exactly as we intended it to work out." My favourite line of the night. I thought this guy had all the answers....

Yeah he has the gift of eloquent speech. That is how he was able to persuade so many peolple to vote for him. Now its time to put up or shut up.

President's don’t control the economy, The Fed does through interest rate and money supply manipulation. The Executive office has to wait for the Legislative branch to write up a spending package.
So I don't know what benefit of the doubt their was to give... President's don't control the economy all by their lonesome...
This man imho, is not a great orator. I have heard him talk without his teleprompter. A lot of umm's and ahh's and broken sentences. Not nearly as bad as W, but not nearly as good as everyone claims.
Anybody can sound good with a teleprompter, even W had some shining speeches. You want an awesome orator who can speak off the cuff with perfection. Adolf Hitler is the man.
His speech last night reminded me exactly of him. Not because of the speaking skills (or lack of...), but because of the emotion, body language and content.
I have watched some of Hitler's early speeches. Watching Obama last night gave me chills. Except for the not needing sub titles, the two were interchangeable...
I'm also peeved because I had to miss last night's episode of House. Just so I could listen to recycled Fascist propaganda from a clueless criminal puppet.

| Obama couldn't get through one sentence last night without saying "uhh" 3 or 4 times. Very uhh, choppy speaking, and uhh, umm, and, uhh, very hard to, uhh, listen to. |

I - uhh - think B.O. meant that - uhh - only government can - uhh - WRECK the economy.
The thing is, all of these clowns BELIEVE THEY CAN FIX IT. Just like Stalin, just like Mussolini, just like Hugo. They don't even know how it works when it's booming. They have about as much control over it as they do over the weather.
They thought they could fix it in the 30's, and what they managed to do was turn a nasty 3 year depression into an even nastier 10 year long one.

Obama's town hall meeting yesterday was in a Republican leaning town that voted for McCain. I understand that the crowd was not screened in the Bush tradition. That sure doesn't sound like the kind of setting Hitler, Stalin or W. Bush required.
For the record, I often agree with the conservative economic principles that Dr. Ron Paul has spoken about. I supported him in the 2008 primary election. However, there are times when the government must play a larger role and now is one of such times. I hope President Obama and his administration is successful in dealing with the huge economic problems we face today.
If our nation is not successful, the appropriate comparison may not be the depression of the 30's. It may be the fall of the Roman Empire. |

Throw money at every problem. Throw money at every problem. Throw money at every problem. Throw money at every problem. Throw money at every problem. Throw money at every problem.
One trick ponies. Most of them have never run so much as a hotdog stand.

Ditto Delawhere. I've been listening to the same answer from the same crowds for the last 40 years, and I can tell you, it hasn't changed in 40 years. |
