Found on 321gold.com....sorry if this was already posted:

Here's the summarizing paragraph:

"As you know, we don't go on what people say, we go on what they do, which is why we bought Freeport McMoran early in December and are already up 50%. What Smart Money has been doing in the recent past and is still doing is piling into the stocks of big base metal and copper producers like BHP Billiton, Freeport and Rio Tinto, as is plainly evident from their bullish volume patterns. This implies a copper breakout soon and more than that, a big broad-based rally in commodities generally, especially gold, silver and oil which would be the result of the global reflationary efforts currently underway bearing fruit, even if the benefits are temporary and result in rampant inflation."

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I have been watching copper inventories pretty closely. They have been going almost straight up since June. If anything, I am surprised at how well the copper price has held up. The worm will turn eventually, maybe on the back of Obama's stimulus package, but I am not seeing it yet...

I think that with the 2009 copper cent coming out showing that the mint is using copper again and may continue for a few years with it might come to play in the copper prices going up also. Just think about this for a sec. The mint had a lot to do with the prices in the early years and I think it will raise the demand for the metal again.

I didn't know that the 2009 penny was changing composition back to copper. I thought they were just changing the back design.

Dont quote me on this but I think the standard circulation strikes are the zinc mix as usual, but they may have made some 2009 commeroratives for collectors that are copper. Maybe someone knows for sure...

That's what I thought. Where could someone get their hands on those 'special issue' sets? Will they only come out at the end of the year after all the designs have made their way in to circulation? And do you guys think they'd be worth getting?

Order them from the mint.
Whether they'll be worth it is unknown.

Since other "set only" coins occasionally turn up in circulation;

keep your eyes/sorting methods peeled for the first 2009 "copper cent" found in the wild.

Does anyone know if the special "copper" cents will be the old 3.56 gm weight?

That will be the way to tell the difference between the zinc (or if the "specials" are Proof only)

If you mean the old value of 3.11 grams, then yes, that's what it'll weigh.

Been away with family things. Doing a bit of research on a few error types and searching my old stacks of zincolns for new errors and varieties that I have newly learned about. Like the 06, 02, & 97 DDO cents and the 96 Wide AM cent.

Personally, I think copper will languish for awhile due to decreased industrial and construction demand.

And he that hath lyberte ought to kepe hit wel / For nothyng is better than lyberte / For lyberte shold not be wel sold for alle the gold and syluer of all the world.
