I always notice around this time when silver hits a little mark like today with 13.00 that all the people come out of the woodwork to either make a buck or make a little of their money back and sell the good stuff.
I've noticed a lot of sealed engelhard 5,10, and 1 ounce bars hitting the coin shops.
Most of you know this by now but anyone looking to buy silver will find this could be a nice day to find some quality stuff.

| I bought a bunch of 90% silver yesterday ($24 Face) at 9x face from one of the bank tellers I get pennies and dimes from. She was going to sell them to a place that buys silver that evening, and just happened to ask me if I was interested. |

Nice score!! You need to bring her some chocolates or something. |

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.
I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

It will make it up there. Patience is key. Buy smart sell smart.
I'm getting rid of all my common and fractional stuff and going straight for the premium ASE, Maples, Engelhard sealed, and JM sealed. 10 ounce bars if possible.

Why?? Silver is still silver. I would think that as silver inches upward again, but more importantly as the fundamentals of the U.S. economy are getting obviously worse, that premium pieces would be less desirable than just silver in general. Explain your thinking on this.

Anyone else on here agree that silver is still silver?
Why not hold on to silver that holds it's value plus an extra premium when both bars are under glass at the same price? |

For example; If I can get some nice silver eagles for the same price as silver rounds then I'm going for the eagles. But I'm not going to pay a huge premium for eagles when I could be buying more silver for my money. Even if I were to get my premium back when I sell I woulds still rather have it invested in more silver for my money. I expect silver to increase in value faster than the premium of certain bars or coins. In fact anytime I sold to dealers during a hot up market they didn't pay a cent more for eagles or brand name bars. |

That's not my point.
If both bars on the table at the exact same price - Generic vs. Engelhard sealed - I'd recommend buying Engelhard for long term holding. Only because of the recent influx of silver I've seen in the local marketplace (Both at the same price under the glass)
Some would say it's common sense, I just call it a general word of advice for any newbie.
You wouldn't be investing a dime more in my scenario which was mainly focused on engelhard and JM bars over Generics. No one will normally find ASE, Maple Leaves, etc anywhere near the others. If so that too is a no brainer.
Not looking to pick a fight here folks....Just a local price observance on my part. Might not even be true for rest of the country. |
