Well, Congress is full of idiots.
The problem is not housing anymore that mess has spilled over. This thing is all about money supply, credit markets, incomes, savings rates, and debt levels.
You can't fix problems with spending. The heart of the problem is debt levels are to high when compared to assets level and incomes. That is why home loans are going bad and spending is down.
We are screwed bc we only elect idiots to run the country. Even if this group of idiots is better than the last group... we still have idiots in charge.

"This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the "hidden" confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard." Alan Greenspan, 1966. |

| Better have some cash on hand as well. Don't leave it all in checking or savings. Have an emergency stash if you can. |

The banks are going to start lending... I think the government is about to take ownership of a lot of the big ones.
