"Under the new law – Act 113 of 2008 – scrap processors and recycling facilities must maintain records on all transactions of more than $100 and keep those records for two years."
"The records must include a photocopy of the seller’s driver’s license, the license plate number of the seller’s vehicle, a description of the material purchased, the weight of the material and amount paid for it."
"...scrap metal dealers who violate the law can be fined $2,500 for a first offense. A subsequent offense would be considered a third-degree misdemeanor."

must provide a us goverment issued id for over $25.00 worth of scrap
right finger print taken
photograph taken
more than $300.00 worth of scrap you get a check mailed to you
one ticket per day

| In Washington, any material over 30 dollars, with all the proper ID, and physical address, gets a check after ten days. Exceptions are for aluminum cans and steel. Or if you are a licensed dealer or business that generates the material. I am a business and it made no difference to me, however it cut into a lot of people saving small amounts of scrap for that once in a while run. |

Missouri: All non-ferrous materials must show identification at least once. You are entered into the system. Amounts over $500 are paid by check immediately. Under, and it's cash.

| PA scrap dealers don't ask for anything except money when you buy copper from them... sometimes an arm or a leg if you go to the wrong one |
