Teller 1...
Wachovia no longer will allow me to buy coins. They stopped with no warning whatsoever. Years ago I started buying coin from them without even having an account. Time went by and they told me I would have to have an account to continue to buy coins. I opened an account. Shortly thereafter, they stopped letting me buy coin. When I complained that I had been buying coins for along while, and had opened an account like they wanted, they said they had been making a mistake for a long time by selling me coins. I took $1000 (to wachovia) in halves to be converted to paper money this morning. One teller asked me...Where are you getting your halves now? I told her that these halves were theirs that I had bought previously and that since they had sold them to me when they weren't supposed to, I figure I should bring them back. :-) One of the teller's said...Oh yeah, we really need these.
Teller 2.... I was out of town this morning and stopped at a bank I hardly ever go to. I ask for halves. The teller says, I have some. She looks at the date of each coin and gives me her dumpage and puts the silvers to the side. I ask about that and she says she hasn't bought those from her box yet. I go speak with the manager. If she hasn't bought them from the box yet, she shouldn't be able to dangle them in front of me. The manager agreed. 2 - 1964's and a 1965.

The crooked banks love halves and dollar coins--the hardest to get rid of. Regions did the same thing to me (or at least one branch). |

I have no problem at all when the tellers search for Ag. It's all fair game. But what she did was completely uncool and unprofessional. I have had it done to me too. I'm glad to hear the manager agreed with you.
But in all honesty, you're probably not going to be too welcome in that branch anymore with the tellers. Good thing it was not one of your regular branch's.
Congrats on the Ag.

Bluegill, I had trouble with this bank on my first visit there. Here's the post with its link:
Post from October:
I went to a new bank today (new to me) and asked the teller if I could buy some rolls of halves. She said they didn't have any rolls but that I could buy whatever they had loose. Just as I am about to walk away with the loose halves I bought this teller's co-worker walks up to my teller and quietly says "What about the halves in the .... (thats all that I could hear). My teller responds: "I don't want to mess with that. Its clear to me that she knew there were rolls in the vault, and I ask again if they had any. She said no, they send them back. So, I go to other banks collecting halves all the while becoming more and more ticke off over being lied to. I get home and call the manager. I related the incident to her and she goes and checks and lo and behold there are rolls in the vault, not many, just two, but that was two that I wanted. The girl lied to me. I ask the manager if she will hold those two and I will come back and pick them up. Of course, she said yes. She was very apologetic. When I get there, the manager looks around and finds me a total of $70.00 worth of halves. She thanked me and said she took care of that "other" problem as well. Meaning that the girl was fired. I guess she was. She wasn't there when I went back. I have no guilt over this. The girl pretty much said she didn't want to "mess" with having to get up off her stool to wait on me.
PS: I put this post here because the issue wasn't about what kind of coins there were.

End post.
While visiting this town, I went to 6 banks. I had some success. Here's the results out of 26 rolls...
64-5 65-3 66-10 67-7 68-18 69-4
Now I am back to a partially sorted box of ordered halves. 15 rolls haven't given up any silver. I am not optimistic. I have 4 boxes of dimes to sort but thats kind of a let down after today's CWR score.
