Hi all,

You must be logged in to see this link.

Obama is planning to give a $500 tax stimulus to all workers and $1000 to couples.

I can't remember where I read it, but I'm pretty sure there was a Roman emperor who started giving away money in the last days of the Roman Empire. Needless to say, the people loved him, but the empire soon crumbled.

As for me, hey, I love it!
I'll spend that $500 on a half ounce gold eagle the same day! See, I'm helping the economy!

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win.

I will give Obama the benefit of the doubt, at this point, and say that he is has good intentions. It is too bad that he appears clueless that his spending programs might lead to an all out currency collapse and that the best thing for us to do is take our medicine no matter how bitter. In other words enduring massive BKs and unemployment and having a complete, quick flush of all unprofitable, unproductive businesses coupled with a contraction of government.

The end result of spending money that we don’t have will essentially be the same whether the money goes to the common man or to Wall Street or to the military complex.

Good intentions...don't they all?

Let's see, a Bank Holiday, after that he'll call in all the privately held gold Eagles so that we spend rather than hoard the tax stimulus checks that we will get, a devaluation of the dollar to reset exchange rates, then settle back for a decade long depression.

Contraction of government? If past is prologue, watch for an EXPANSION of government and nationalization of retirement accounts and industries. Desperate times take desperate measures, dontcha know.

Trust the government? Ask an Indian.

H (that guy that's replacing W as POTUS), wants to created 3M new jobs, 80% of them private sector. That would mean 600,000 new gov. jobs. Wanna bet which new "jobs" come to fruition?

$500 is too low. The public has heard that with what they gave the banks, they could each had gotten $100,000 to "stimulate: the economy. So now they are be expecting a lot more than last time around. I can't believe the otherwise intelligent people who are calling for that. So what are you going to do with your $100,000?

By the time we get this next 'stimulus' it will probably still by a half ounce gold eagle, even if it is much bigger. Especially if everyone else gets theirs before we do.

That's what I was thinking. I'm not really for handing out money for nothing, but if you are wanting to stimulate the economy pass out larger amounts to single people without kids. "We" as a group tend to blow more money probably that any other population group. I don't really blow money like that however. The higher price of item purchased the more tax dollars paid, more profit for the retailers, good all around. Unless you actually have to PAY for this stimulus package somehow....
