Decided to search the dates other than silver - per one of the previous threads, since I didn't get any silver. Found a 2002-D in AU shape. Also found a 1982-P with the missing FG initials on reverse error. It's in F condition. The 1982-P is probably worth more than a silver one. |

walked up to one of my bank's branches inside a local grocery store after dropping off a prescription and asked the tellers if they had any halves. $7.50 worth of loose halves yielded 4 40%'s, almost doubling my total score so far this year (after having gone through 3 boxes).
Note to self: make a point to randomly pop-in and ask tellers about halves when anywhere near banks for any reason. |

So I went to 4 banks during lunch. The first 3 didn't have any halves. However, the fourth bank yeilded $90 in customer wrapped halves and $58 in Ikes! So I took the halves bak to the office and looked at the rolls. One of them said "silver" written on the roll! This is what they yeilded;
3 40% 2 90% 1964's 7 90% franklins
These are the first Franklins I have ever found! I will go through the Ikes latter tonight!
The best part is on the way home I am picking up an order of $500 in Halves from my bank! |

Searching silver, congrats on the 7 Franklins. I have been collecting halves since sept of 2008, and I have 7 Franklins. Its really cool when you get a good score. My first good score was when I bought 9 rolls of halves and one of them was all BU 1964's. |

$475 CWR dimes - 3 silver.. much better than my usual 1 silver dime.
$140 CWR nickels - 1 silver WN. Also 2 dimes, 3 pennies, a 1949 50 Pfennig, and a 1 peso bimetallic.
$30 CWR halves - 1 40%er. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

Checked 5 boxes of nickles and found 2 war nickles and a dateless buffalo. I'm going to be in the northern part of Wisconsin the next few days hitting small town banks up for their silver. I hope those "badger" banks do not turn out to be all skunks! |

Great finds today...
Turned in $104.88 in zincolns + $153.50 in halfs at one bank.
Took that maoney to another bank and picked up $200 in pennies, and $40 in halfs:
very high ratio of copper/zinc, including 3 rolls of 100% wheats, plus many other dispersed throughout the lot
One roll of the halfs were all 40%... the other three were 100% skunks
This was only my second time buying half dollars... I think I'm hooked now

New member.
Last Saturday as I walked around town I stopped in 4 banks and asked for halves. I came up with $19.50 total.
1 90% 1 40%
Between finding two halves and sorting through my normal everyday change after finding a Mercury last month, I am hooked, I'll be ordering rolls and boxes now. |

Wow, a lot of competition coming around in the half dollar market! Might explain why my returns have been so bad this year, any of you new comers sorting in the central PA area?
At any rate, welcome to the world of half dollars. Try not to let the skunks discourage you after the honeymoon ends. Luck tends to come and go. |
