I've gotten alot of coins from this bank but never halves. They charge one dollar per hundred dollars of coins. Two boxes of halves cost me ten bucks. Here's the results:

box 1:

1964 - 1
1966 - 2
1967 - 2
1968 - 2

box 2:

Ben F - 1 (1960)
1964 - 3
1966 - 6
1967 - 6
1968 - 10
1969 - 3

Loose halves girl at small bank saved for me:

1964 - 5

Second bank:

1967 - 1
1968 - 1

I also got 5 roos today. I'm happy with the halves boxes. I think the results justified the ten dollar ordering cost.

If you were guaranteed those kinds of results it seems a like a reasonable trade off. Get a few skunks in a row at $5 a box, ouch.

Ok folks, I went to make my weekly 2 box pick up at my "skunks are us" bank, and lo and behold, those two boxes had the same inspector and the same inspection date at did the two boxes I picked up at the other bank. On the first box I am 20 rolls in and have gotten only 1 forty percenter. BUT on the second box, I sorted five rolls and have nine forty percenter. On first two boxes at my new order bank, I had one really good box and one just so-so. I think thats gonna be the case with the two boxes at my regular bank. Its nice not to get skunked for a change.

PS: If a bank is gonna charge you for coins, it should be by weight, not by dollar amount. My bank charges me a dollar per one hundred dollars of coins. This means I could order 40 penny boxes for the same price as 2 halves boxes. Thats screwy.

results of two boxes:

Box 1

40% halves.. 1

Box 2

40% halves.. 25 (one proof..1968s)
90% halves.. 2

Fees are fees, sometimes you got to pay, sometimes you can negotiate.
I just got a bank to order unlimited coin for me with no fees. They had stated they were going to start to charge to order boxes of Halves. That has now been waived as long as I don't bring any back to "deposit".
I think I'm going to (re)open a BOA account while they have the $50 promotion going on and dump until the cows come home.
Sometimes it's funny what a guy will do if he thinks an Ag coin may be obtained at face.

There's profit if you melt things!!

Each Bank sets their own rules and fees. I haven't paid any, but a couple of banks have quoted me some.

Dan, I bet if you start ordering 40 boxes a week in pennies that fee structure is going to change.. .25 a box is almost reasonable.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Misteroman, yes, I do have an account there. They haven't always charged me for coins. It started when I got into it heavy.

PS: I am gonna have to go through my 40% halves and look for proofs. I have never faced them.
