IN the half dollar thread FB101 mentioned that various tellers have said that their machines reject silver.I know for a fact that the Cummins Jet Sort at a bank that I visit does accept silver coins.

We should research this as a group. I know that the jet sort does not reject silver, so there is a chance to find silver in bags coming from that machine. In fact I have gotten silver halves, qtrs, and dimes. Likewise, if we know of a machine that rejects silver, we would not want to buy bags from that brand/model.

I will get the model of the jet sort next time I am there. Is anyone else interested in putting together a database like this?

I'll help as I can. My main dump uses a cummins jetsort as well. The note on it says it does not accet "old" dollar coins. Ploy by the tellers to get silver dollars maybe? I can have them pull a total and tell me how many is in the half bag when they change bags for me as well, so I can tell when it is getting full.

I'd join in, but how do you know what the model is? Is it on the machine? One bank I know of has a different machine than anyone else, and it definitely takes silver. The TD Penny Arcade machines supposedly don't, that may be true since that's where I pulled 7 rosies from the rejects slot.

I'm not sure how to find the model number. I'm hoping to find it written on the outside of the machine. I don't dump at that bank, I only buy there.

Kurr,
My guess is that it won't accept morgan, peace or Eisenhower dollars. Drop a franklin half in there and see if it eats it.

My credit union told me the same thing with the sorter they have in the back, and the CoinScans TCF uses in the lobby also have the same notes. TCF also says their machines won't accept the presidential dollars either.

The Ag hunting tellers I'm sure are taking advantage of that. I can't really blame them if they are.
