Silver closed over $11.00, gold closed over $850.00 today. I have no charts to prove it but I seem to recall many a Christmas rally in the precious metals markets over the years.

Dollar-cost averaging would be my advice, Oober. Spend a set amount on a regular basis so that at least you'll get SOMETHING for your FRNs. I'm spending about $150 every two weeks on whatever I can find within a comfortable price range, and if I can't find PMs at a price I like, I roll the extra FRNs over into buying more food and preps. I've bought silver at $18 not knowing it was going to drop, and I've bought at $10 (when I found a little bit of scrap), but the important thing IMO is to at least buy something that will be a better return long-term than holding onto FRNs.

Thanks, thats what I have been doing for awhile now, thinking about it, dont think I could go more then a few weeks without at least picking up a few dollar face of junk silver.

Monday's and Friday's are my buy days. I figure break it up to 2 times a week to DCA even more and keep building the relationship with my dealer...

Don't think of low spot prices as being in the red, just think of it as a chance to buy more if you can find it! The only way we could be in the red with PMs is if we're trying to make a fast buck, but I think most of us on here are looking very long term and not just to the end of the next quarter like Wall Street does.

PM price increases are a double edge sword. On one hand who doesn't want to see their investments go up? On the other hand who among us (other than Ponce Cuba) has all the silver we want or need?

Correct, but it makes the wife understand better :), :(.

I definitiely would like it to stay about where its at for about 6mo more, I think. I will be done for a bit with my major (well major for me) purchases, then scale back after that.

You know, if I DCA my searched silver in, I am in the black. Would that be cheating?

There is no cheating. Silver is silver. I spose if ya stole it that would be cheating ha. Although getting it at FV kinda feels like stealing, especially when ya sell it. I have a dime box that I put my 40%ers in and when it gets full since there is no more room in my safe it goes to its new home. This box is going out tomarrow morn, could have stuffed in more but also needed some Christmas FRNs.
HH all, Mark
