Last summer (May I think) I was getting some change and they needed more nickels. The clerk broke open a nickle roll and one of those was mixed in, it was instantly discernible due to it's darkened color. I asked if I could have that one, but when the clerk saw what it was all I got back was a Jefferson. They are out there!
In 1972, as a young artillery gunner in Charlie battery of the 94th Artillery in West Berlin, I found a 1938 D "2" Reichspfenning coin in a clump of dirt while on an alert. I still have it if for no other reason than for validation to myself that I was there. Alittle of bit of history before my time is all. I've looked up the value of the coin and surprisingly it has little monetary value. It means something to me though. A "find" from my youth.
I love the history of coins no matter where they come from!
