...how would we know? I've seen some people on other boards (here's one--look at the comment by Pangaea: You must be logged in to see this link.) saying that the Fed isn't hyperinflating the money supply, while others are saying exactly the opposite. How can we tell if the Fed is lying about how big the money supply is, and can we tell before it's too late? Can the Fed get away with lying about the money supply, or are there external checks and balances?
