`Everybody is ignorant. Only on different subjects.' Will Rogers

"This is the shabby secret of the welfare statists' tirades against gold. Deficit spending is simply a scheme for the "hidden" confiscation of wealth. Gold stands in the way of this insidious process. It stands as a protector of property rights. If one grasps this, one has no difficulty in understanding the statists' antagonism toward the gold standard." Alan Greenspan, 1966.

Yes, I've realized this on my own, and I am scared. Either party with that much control is scary, but I fear the socialists more. They want me to fail.

Oh yeah, BTW: If I have a significant sum in my 401K, and I hear the gov't is going to do this, what can I do?
A: Borrow against my 401K for the maximum allowed.
B: Remove all the money from my 401K and pay the penalties (why not better than getting 0% of my contributions.)
C: If I still want to invest in stock, take advantage of the fire sale
to buy when the Dow hits $500.
D: If I don't want to invest in stock (and I don't) I put all the money in PMs, Kevlar, and lead at any price because that will be the absolute end. - Imagine the day when Bill Gates and Warren Buffett are merely minor millionaires, ALL foreign investment dries up, and the dollar drops to 1/20th it's current value.
E: Start looking for a home in Canada or Mexico.

Not necessarily. They need us to bust our asses so we can pay those who sit on theirs the monthly re-distribution checks they receive. We need to succeed for the greater good of the mooches. Whatever....

Deal

p.s. I realize some need welfare and such and I'm all for it. I just don't want to further the burden on us for even more unneeded handouts.

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

I am not for any of it. Where in the constitution does it say that people have the right to a living? It doesn't. All welfare is socialism to some degree. It is taking from one to give to another.

It is one thing to give to the needy. It is something else to take for the needy. If I took the money at gun point, but gave it to the needy, then is that ok? I don't think stealing with a pen is any less wrong than stealing with a gun.

Charity groups and the chuch's took care of the needy in the old days. Then politicians realized they could buy votes by forcing charity on people with other peoples money.

We all now how efficient, graft and fraud free things are when government gets invloved...
