It irks me when a teller lies to me. If I am not a customer of that bank, they can simply say "we don't sell to non-customers." If it is a bank I do business with, I expect them to tell me the truth and comply with mt requests if not too out of the ordinary.
That said, I once had a bank that I was doing regular business with refuse to order halves for me. I diodn't like it, but let it be. Two months later my main source of halves quit ordering for me. I went back to the other bank and they agreed. If I had ticked them off the first time, I would be out of luck.
My main bank that I have been doing business with my entire adult life once refused to sell me silver halves that were in her tray. I was not happy, but didn't make a stink. She now gets my dumps on a more than regular basis. She won the battle, but I am winning the war. I wouild have never dumped a single coin there otherwise. |

I have ran into tellers that are too lazy to look down in there vault to see if they have any customer-wrapper rolls (one instance I saw a customer give the tellers some rolls). But as afore stated, asking for bulk pennies and nickels are not normal transactions. Just load them up with $500 in halves marked 'searched' to release some steam. Those halves won't be going anywhere for a while. Or make the branch/bank a dump bank altogether.
Build a reputation with your banks, have more than five cents in your account and use it to your advantage on questionable days. Remember, you are the customer and you are always right. |
